This Tuesday, Democrats suffered a major setback and had been reminded once again, of who the people favour more when their candidate Jon Ossoff lost the most expensive special election in history, to Karen Handel in Georgia. And now, doing what they do best which is blaming other people for their loss, the House Democrats are now speaking out and blaming House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi for their catastrophic loss.
“Nancy Pelosi is not the only reason that Ossoff lost. But she certainly is one of the reasons,” said Filemon Vela, the Democratic Texas Congressman, according to reports.
Then he continued, explaining how it is likely that the Democrats will be suffering more defeats like this one next year if their party doesn’t come down on making serious alterations to their leadership.
“I think you’d have to be an idiot to think we could win the House with Pelosi at the top,” said Vela.
Even Seth Moulton, the House Democrat (MA) agreed that a larger part of the blame lies on Pelosi.
“Our leadership owes us an explanation,” said Moulton. “Personally, I think it’s time for new leadership in the party.”
According to reports, Pelosi herself held a closed-door meeting with Democrats just this Wednesday, where she tried to Ossoff’s narrow defeat as moral victory in a District that has been voting Republican for ages. But that doesn’t seem to be a story which many people are willing to buy, so these might be Pelosi’s final days in politics.
